3 Ways to Get the Most Out of LegalTech

I can’t help but feel excited for this year’s LegalTech. I’ve been helping organizations improve their strategies and tactics for eDiscovery and governance for ten years. This year, Nexidia is announcing a new offer to help organizations manage their compliance programs and I’m thrilled to have the chance to discuss it with customers, partners, and analysts. As we move into 2015, we are all reevaluating our top responsibilities.  To that end, LegalTech is a time to understand how the solution providers are enhancing their offers to address your concerns.

That said, it’s easy to get distracted and overwhelmed by the dizzying number of offers, announcements, and advertisements. Before LegalTech I thought escalators were just transportation vehicles, not promotional ones too. Ever the provider of solutions, I’ve put together three ways to get the most out of LegalTech.

1. Focus on your “Why” – While this may seem obvious, thesheer pace of the week can knock you off course quickly. Don’t get distracted by the pace and forget why you came. Try to attend the show with your team and spend time at the show debriefing on what you saw and heard to set up your action plans for 2015. Once you get back to the office the distractions will come quickly.

2. Know your strategy - While you may be trying to address a specific tactical issue, it no doubt sits inside a larger story for your customer and your company’s customers. Try to think about how your issue will change over time, or if you addressed that issue what would the next ones be. Then, as you attend sessions and talk with subject matter experts and solution providers, listen for how they think and act strategically with you.

3. Get Connected -  There really is a lot to learn but there’s no way you can ‘get it’ all at once. Use your team and your networks to help you out, join in the conversation on social media by engaging with the conference hashtag on Twitter and enjoy the chance to be in touch with so much expertise.

On a final note, if you find that your organization is looking to develop or augment strategies and tactics for addressing eDiscovery and compliance for audio and related electronic communications, stop by Nexidia’s booth: 1310.
